Of changing the Constitution and Ferraris

Well, here we go again!

It is almost 2010, and the fairytale or nightmare that’s in Malacañang is about to end.

No happily ever after ending here, only that most of my country men’s belts needs an additional hole for tightening.

The perceived changing of the Constitution, as alleged will only serve those who are in power, with the hope of clinging on to their seats until the Second Coming of Christ.

Their backer, on the other hand, would howl to the moon, echoing that a new Constitution would make our lives brighter, future better and our tummy fuller.

I am not much of a Constitutionalist. My undergrad was not Political Science. Instead it was about engines, machines, flaps, and as to why those things fly. Such is my discipline, so I tend to look at the world in that scenario.

And in my world, a person who does not know how to drive a jeepney, will never be better if he gets his hand on a Ferrari. In short, tools and machines are useful if the person knows how to use them, and not the other way around.

So we will not be better off with the new Constitution is the ones running the engine will be the same blokes, who does not even know how to make heads or tail of the current one.

It is not the Constitution that needs a tune-up. It’s the persons running this miserable government that needs to be overhauled and replaced.

AUGUST 21, 1983

That date started the fire that lit the fuse which culminated 3 years after, ushering in a new hope for Freedom in the Philippines...

Unfortunately, 25 years after, we are still doing baby steps with our acquired freedom...

What’s with most of the people nowadays?

I must agree it is hard to think with an empty stomach...

It is hard to dream when we see the filth and incompetence of our government around us everyday...

It is hard to clean when the people and the puppet masters are apathetic with the dirt clinging from their eyes...

It is hard to fight for freedom, when most of the freedom fighters before, have turned coats and bowed down to the ol'mighty cash...

25 years is a long time to grab the chance to do something better with our lives, our system, and our country.

About 75% of the current voting population wasn't even born when Ninoy died 25 years ago today.

It was ironic and sad to note, that when a film documentary was made about Ninoy's life 2003, the director had a hard time putting in the extras in their mood. The shoot called for a weeping, a crying nation bringing Ninoy to his final resting place. So as to bring actual tears to the extras, the director had them recall the death of a popular young actor, who died recently. geez...

Faith in our People, Faith in God.

The first part is gonna be one tough cookie to swallow.

::::::

PS. But I do find this "anecdote" amusing...

reporter to former President Cory Aquino,

Reporter: Madam President, if Ninoy was not assassinated, would he have become president?

PCory Aquino: No, probably he would be dead by now...

Reporter: How come?

PCory Aquino: He would have died from all the troubles and scandals caused by our daughter Kris. =)

Life through emerald Lenses

Summer aint gone.. it's just around the corner..

last hurrah

The Beach has taught me about the Tides..

Of laughters that loses itself naturally,

And a Portrait emerges without touchs up..

It speaks to me on all fours.

To see life through emerald lenses.

Where tides don't last forever..

Where life has to be more than catching the next wave,

But of also treating the bumps and burns while out there..

That's when true happiness takes place,

And where rejections, sorrows, despairs are but no more..

That to be happy, somethings are best forgotten..

Touch not My Country!

Not all were asleep in the night of our ancestors! - Pilosopong Tasio

6.12

"I die without seeing the dawn break on my country...

You who are about to see it, greet her...

do not forget those who have fallen during the night!"

Jose Rizal

Noli Me Tangere, 1887

::

June 12, 2007.

it's been 109 years since we are free.

Funny how some people asks today if we are really free.. for it seems they equate freedom with benevolent power, shared riches, freedom of the press..

some decades ago, President MLQuezon declared,  " I prefer a country run like hell by Filipinos to a country run like heaven by Americans. Because, however bad a Filipino government might be, we can always change it."

well, we got his wish.

But we can also change quagmire that we are in... beginning with ourselves..

to start now.. we owe it that much to the heroes before us..

No burning of flags required.

That is Total Freedom for me.

May 2nd, 2007

today, let me fall...

Its just another May Second...

reachin out

Well its May 2 once again…

Another year to start over

To think over...

To reflect...

To curse the sun and rain...

And to thank the rainbow afterwards…

To have the humility in accepting not all dreams will come true…

If I must drink, it will be to remember and not to forget...
